HELL NO!!!!
Dancing is not a sport plain and simple.
jogging, running, walking, bike riding, roller blading......these are all physical activities and they aren't sports.

Well I don't know all of the things Suka said can be known as "Competitive Sports" so techniquely I disagree with her on that one...
But no I don't think DDR should be called a sport =P otherwise it'll stop some people from wanting to have fun and do it XP

Running is totally a sport!
Take track and cross-country.

So according to this anything exercise is a sport then? No thats BS. DDR is a video game it is not a sport and will never be a sport. And no running is not a sport it's classified as an "exercise activity". People have been trying to get competitive biking to be recognized as a sport and it's not working.
The problem with calling, dancing, running, walking, biking, roller blading....etc a sport is that basically everyone can do them and they require no team. Anyone can run not everyone can play football, a sport has rules and guidelines, none of the things I've listed have any.
Calling DDR a sport is like saying me playing the Wii a sport, it's a video game, the day we start calling video games a real sport is the day hell freezes over and the world ends

It depends on how you look at it. For example Bike riding can be an Extreme sport (like BMXing and tricks) or it can be an Olympic sport like the Cycling (when they ride around that ring at ridiculous speeds).
And running is an Olympic sport, thus the 400 metres up to who knows how many metres.
Football and all those other sports are "competitive" sports.
I worded this wrong, what I meant was Do you think DDR is a fitness type of game?, I know it's not a sport. So I'll change the title, Sorry about that everyone.

I'd say so.. It doesn't have to be a sport to lead to fitness.
And most people who play this do lose weight.

Dance, Dance, Revolution is not physical fitness game. It is physical, but it does not get you "fit" or in shape. Well, unless your one of those crazy "I-can-move-my-legs-one-hundred-freak'n-miles-an-hour" kids. But most people aren't. I don't think moving your leg about six inches in four directions does anything to get you "fit".
On the contrary, actual dancing does get you in shape. I should know. I play football, run track, jog about 3-5 miles a day, and dance my arse off. Dancing definantly does give you a good work out.
I would count dancing as a sport. But to re-assure myself, I looked it up in the dictionary. Here are two definitions of the word "sport":
1): physical activity engaged in for pleasure (2): a particular activity (as an athletic game) so engaged in.
According to those two definitions, dancing is a sport.
